Your Library Team

Laura Wilkes LLB Hons MCLIP
Knowledge & Library Services Manager

I joined the trust in 2008 following a career in public, academic and school libraries, but libraries are my second career as I began work as a solicitor specialising in employment and contractual law.

I am responsible for setting the strategic direction of knowledge and library services and ensuring we meet the high standards set by the trust values and by Health Education England’s Knowledge for Healthcare strategy.

I do get to do some ‘proper’ library work too, carrying out evidence searches, delivering training and can sometimes be found amongst the shelves pulling out old stock to replace with new.

I am fascinated by people, curious about what they need and how I can support them to be their very best, which pretty much sums up what a librarian does, so I can truthfully say, I love my job.

Beverley Walsh BSc MCLIP
Deputy Librarian

I have worked in the NHS since 1986, originally in the Pharmacy Department at Kent & Canterbury Hospital, I then moved to Medical Records, and later to the library at Maidstone Hospital. I have worked here at WSH in the library since 2003, just as we moved to the new Education Centre.
My main areas of work are overseeing the day to day running of the library, carrying out evidence searches and providing training in evidence searching, critiquing research papers and medical terminology.
The part of my job that I find most rewarding is supporting students and staff through their academic endeavours. It is truly a privilege to help our staff and students to become the best they can be, and seeing them achieve their goals.
